Your Caliber Loan Consultant is there every step of the way 

There’s a good reason for contacting a mortgage company and getting a Loan Consultant involved early in the home buying process. Your Loan Consultant will be your guide through the application process, helping you determine how much home you can afford and identifying the loan programs that fit your unique needs and goals.

At Caliber Home Loans, your personal Loan Consultant will be right beside you every step of the way to ensure that the process goes seamlessly from start to finish. For most people, the most pressing question on their mind is. “What is the status of my loan?” Your Caliber Loan Consultant will be able to provide you with that answer during every stage of the process.

Online access to your application

You’ll also be able to log into your account on the Caliber application whenever you’d like to check on the status of your loan and to see if any additional documents are needed. Although your Loan Consultant will be informing you regularly of new requests or updates, being able to check online means that if it’s 3:00 am and you’re wide awake wondering how it’s going with your application, you can find out immediately!

A loan pre-qualification can make things go faster

With Caliber, the loan application process shouldn’t take very long, so you won’t need to check the status many times before it’s completed. But there are several things that you can do to make the process go even faster.

Pre-qualifying is a no-cost service that we provide to give you a clear picture of what you can afford and help pave the way for a smooth home buying experience.

We’ve streamlined the pre-qualification process so you won’t have to spend hours on it. We begin with an informal chat so your Loan Consultant can get a good picture of your current finances. This can be done by phone, or in-person. We’ll discuss your income, long-term debts, such as student loan repayments, and your credit history.

After your Loan Consultant reviews this information, you’ll be given a preliminary estimate of the funding that Caliber should be able to provide. You’ll then be pre-qualified, which will help you shop smart.

Next, get pre-approved

Once you find the home you want, we’ll get you pre-approved. This is the beginning of the actual loan application. You will need to supply documents that verify your income, employment, credit score, financial assets, and the source of funds for any necessary down payment. 

Before you do any of this, we try to verify your assets and employment electronically so that you don’t have to go digging through files. This can really speed up the process, removing a lot of the work that used to be the responsibility of the applicant.

Depending on how much information is available digitally, and the requirements of the loan program, the loan application could be completed in as soon as 10 days! That’s a best-case scenario, and it will likely take longer, but at Caliber our typical turnaround is 2 to 3 weeks.
